It's more important that he/she is liked by your family, assuming you yourself like your own family. You can't replace family.
Whether the signficant other likes your family or not matters only if you like to hang out with your family. This would be difficult to do if you were torn between family and significant other. That's not cool to have to choose between the two, they should be able to coexist. But if you hate your own family, then you can live happily with your significant other and avoid your family together, sharing a mutual dislike towards them.
For the record, I think Sara likes our family (not so much Wayne due to his recent softball comments haha). And I think everyone enjoys Sara's company, especially on the softball field when she's screaming as the ball hurls toward her leg.
Interesting take. My own take is that it's more important that the significant other likes the family if only because you'll be spending a lot more time with the significant other. You can always get away from family. But you shouldn't want to get away from your significant other but that's what you'll want to do if she/he is always bitching about your family Basically, a disapproving family is easier to deal with than a disapproving significant other.

LUDACRIS. I for one do not like sara's company. In fact, it would be best that she didn't play 2nd base. Ridiculous indeed.
You forgot the link for LUDACRIS.
So very true EJ. I apologize.
